# Simple Diamond-Shaped Furniture The Buchtisch Table Boasts Clean Lines and Cosy Features By Meghan Young | Published 2012-05-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buchtisch-table References: [trendsnow.net](http://www.trendsnow.net/inspiration/buchtisch) & [studiovoigtdietrich.de](http://www.studiovoigtdietrich.de/projekte/buchtisch/) The Buchtisch table is a simple furniture piece that nevertheless makes a statement. Shaped like a diamond, it is made to hold books--in fact, its name translates to 'book table' in German. The Buchtisch table also has a modest shelf protruding outwards from one of its corners to accommodate other items such as glasses of wine and more. Created by German design duo Franz Dietrich and Sebastian Voigt, the Buchtisch table is made out of MDF and beech wood. The black material contrasts beautifully with the natural grain of the light wood, while the overall [clean lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solis-collection) lend a [minimalist aesthetic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monumental-table) that would complement just about any existing home decor. Great for both traditional living spaces and modern ones, the Buchtisch table is cozy and sophisticated. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 24% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Minimalist Furniture:** There is an opportunity for disruptive innovation in designing simple yet chic furniture that complements existing home decor. - **Multifunctional Furniture:** Designing furniture with additional features, such as book holders and shelves, will appeal to consumers looking for space-saving and practical solutions. - **Natural Contrast Design:** Creating a juxtaposition between darker and lighter materials allows for unique furniture designs that are visually striking and stand out in the market. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design Industry:** The furniture industry has an opportunity to create innovative pieces that balance minimalism with functionality and are designed to complement existing home decor. - **Home Decor Industry:** The home decor industry can expand its offerings by including more multifunctional furniture pieces that are designed to maximize space and provide practical solutions for consumers. - **Woodworking Industry:** The woodworking industry can incorporate contrasting materials, such as MDF and beech wood, to create unique designs that appeal to consumers looking for visually striking furniture pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Perplexingly Angular Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tadashi-side-table.md) - [Geometric Cutout Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/designated-table.md) - [Abstract Triangular Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/triangle-side-table.md) - [Möbius Strip-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mbelius-coffee-table.md) - [Minimalist Book Storage Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocket-coffee-table.md) - [Puzzling Geometric Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linked-side-table.md) - [Slender Geometric Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tong-side-table.md) - [Intersecting Two-Part Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shaolin-side-table.md) - [Curvaceous Animalistic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookpet-coffee-table.md)
