# Panoramic Camera Attachments The BubbleScope Will be the First 360º Imaging Device By Matt Ho | Published 2011-07-21 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bubblescope References: [technabob](http://technabob.com/blog/2011/07/19/bubblescope-360-degree-smartphone-camera/) & [bubblescope](http://bubblescope.com/) The BubbleScope is probably one of the more interesting [camera attachments to smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stage-powergrip) that I've seen; in fact, if it goes into production, it will be the first of its kind. Inventor Tom Lawton decided that apps and cameras on a regular smartphones just don't cut it when it comes to taking [360º shots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/akaso-360). So, he decided to invent the BubbleScope, which is an attachment with a [spherical cam that takes panoramic views](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insta360-x4-air) with one single shot. The bottom reveals a pop-up curve mirror that "when attached to a smartphone via a complementary case, the lens of the smartphone will then capture what’s reflected on the mirror," according to Technabob. It's a pretty neat concept if you're looking to play with photography on the phone. Currently, pledges are being made to make the BubbleScope a reality. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 5% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **360-degree Imaging:** The trend of 360-degree imaging creates opportunities for innovative camera attachments like the BubbleScope. - **Smartphone Accessories:** The rise in smartphone usage drives the need for unique and functional camera attachments like the BubbleScope. - **Photography Innovation:** The demand for novel and immersive photography experiences pushes the development of devices like the BubbleScope. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Mobile Technology:** The mobile technology industry can benefit from the disruptive innovation opportunity of 360-degree imaging attachments like the BubbleScope. - **Photography Equipment:** The photography equipment industry can explore the potential of camera accessories like the BubbleScope to enhance the user experience. - **Crowdfunding Platforms:** Crowdfunding platforms have the opportunity to support and facilitate the production of innovative camera accessories like the BubbleScope. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Smartphone Gimbal Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sphere-gimbal.md) - [Smartphone Gimbal Attachments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snappy-mobile.md) - [Smartphone-Friendly Action Cams](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/domono-smart-camera.md) - [Wide-Angle Lens Action Cams](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xiaomi-mi-action-360.md) - [Elongated Smartphone Photography Lenses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sandmarc-probe-lens.md) - [Pro-Grade Smartphone Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/switchlens.md) - [Magnetic Snap-On Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snapgrip.md) - [360-Degree Photography Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miops-capsule-pro.md) - [Sound-Localizing Smartphone Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soundcam-go.md)
