# Bubble-Inspired Furniture Pieces Samer Alameen and JCP Design Playful Pieces for JCP label By Amy Duong | Published 2018-08-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bubbleinspired-furniture References: [jcpuniverse](https://www.jcpuniverse.com/) & [sameralameen](http://www.sameralameen.com/) Lebanese designer Samer Alameen designs two unique [bubble-inspired furniture pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-eternal-child) for Italian label JCP. The designer taps childhood memories of playing with bubbles in the design approach for the new two-piece collection. The first piece is the 'Eret' console table that takes on design cues of a model construction system made for children dating back to 1898. It is still frequent in the world but the design transforms its normality as the surface of the piece looks as if it can be moved around and replaced. The Eret is constructed from [perforated stainless steel materials](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/through-chrome-reflections) and held together with fixing bolts. The second piece in the capsule is the '[Orgone' lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-balloon-lamp) that takes on the visual of a bubble blowing toy that taps to the memories of every child and adult. The base of the piece is crafted from brass and the shade looks like a soap bubble made with borosilicate glass. The illumination is a red light that gives the lampshade an iridescent appearance to look like a soap bubble. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 26% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Bubble-inspired Furniture:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in furniture design by incorporating playful and nostalgic elements inspired by childhood memories of playing with bubbles. - **Children's Model Construction Systems:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the toy industry by reimagining and transforming traditional model construction systems to create unique and interactive play experiences for children. - **Iridescent Lighting:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the lighting industry by creating iridescent lighting fixtures that mimic the appearance of soap bubbles, providing a whimsical and ethereal aesthetic. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the furniture industry by developing bubble-inspired furniture pieces that combine functionality with playful design elements. - **Toy Manufacturing:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the toy industry by incorporating bubble-inspired design elements into model construction systems, creating a unique and engaging play experience for children. - **Lighting Design:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the lighting industry by designing iridescent lighting fixtures that mimic the appearance of soap bubbles, creating a visually stunning and captivating lighting experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bubble-Inspired Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bubbles-lighting-design.md) - [Bubble-Inspired Bulbous Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bubble-stool.md) - [Dreamlike Bubble-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airshape-lamp.md) - [Bulbous Whimsical Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neotenic.md) - [Structural Blown Glass Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lokum-collection.md) - [Dynamic Structural Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thermass-and-alton.md) - [Paper-Formed Premium Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pastille.md) - [Mesmerizing Bright Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/draga-aurel1.md) - [Lucite Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/draga-aurel.md)
