Although it is like nothing from people's past, unless someone had an inventive father who made a similar contraption, the bubble machine will inspire [childlike wonder](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/turtle-splash) in anyone who watches it. Utterly [mesmerizing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arrakis-30), the bubble machine essentially creates [big soapy bubbles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bubbles-everywhere) out of thin air. Sparsely constructed out of wood and string, which is placed in front of a classic and cheap table fan, the mechanical portion of the bubble machine kicks in to dip the string in a tub of soapy water so as to make the bubbles actually appear. This is a show that anyone can sit in front of and spend an afternoon watching nonstop. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 5% | Activity: 30% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Bubble Machine Craze:** As people continue to seek childlike wonder in their busy lives, there is an opportunity for more inventive designs of bubble machines that provide mesmerizing and relaxing entertainment. - **Low-tech Solutions:** The popularity of Nicholas Hanna's homemade bubble machine demonstrates a trend towards DIY and low-tech solutions that focus on simplicity and nostalgia. - **Multi-sensory Art Installations:** Bubbles, with their delicate appearance and tactile nature, present an opportunity for artists and designers to explore multi-sensory installations that engage viewers in unexpected ways. ### Who This Affects Most - **Entertainment:** Event planners, amusement parks, and other entertainment businesses can incorporate bubble machines into their offerings to engage customers with fun, interactive experiences. - **Home Improvement:** As DIY and home improvement projects continue to rise in popularity, there is an opportunity for manufacturers and retailers to create and sell more diverse bubble machine designs for people to enjoy in their own homes. - **Art and Design:** Artists and designers can incorporate bubbling techniques and bubble machines into their work to create immersive installations that engage viewers on a multi-sensory level. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [ASMR-Inspired Soothing Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sensory-motion-bubblers.md) - [Computer Generated Puzzles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baffling-bubbles.md) - [Kinetic Art Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-machine.md) - [Mesmerizing Fluid Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flow-fountain.md) - [Bubblegum Street Art Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hubbabubbabuilding.md) - [Hypnotic Mechanical Marble Runs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marble-track.md) - [Artful Garden Inflatable Spheres](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/this-is-air.md) - [3D Puzzle Popcorn Machines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/popcorn-machine-1.md) - [Dreamlike Bubble-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airshape-lamp.md)
