# Pastor Encourages Celeb Compassion Praying for Britney Spears By Trend Huntress | Published 2007-10-30 | Social Good Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/britney-spears-pray References: [usatoday](http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2007-10-27-britney-spears-church_N.htm) "Let's love Britney," said Pastor John Weece to his congregation at Southland Christian Church in Lexington, Kentucky. "If she were your next-door neighbor in the same situation without the money and success, wouldn't you care about her problems? Wouldn't you pray for her and offer her support and encouragement?" he asked members of the church. Pastor John created a [letter writing campaign](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/public-support) to try and convince Britney Spears to turn to Jesus. Her woes with alleged [substance abuse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/please-stay-alive) and [weak parenting skills](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-b-is-for-bobbie) are disconcerting to him. Members of his congregation haven't figured out how to get the letters to Ms. Spears, but they're trying. A bumper sticker reads "Think Globally, Act Locally." I wonder if Pastor John's congregation could better serve a needy group in their own community. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 48% | Activity: 14% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Social Good](https://www.trendhunter.com/socialgood) > [Charity](https://www.trendhunter.com/charity) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Celebrity Compassion:** Creating campaigns to show compassion and support for celebrities going through challenges can become a trending movement. - **Influence of Religion:** Religious leaders leveraging their platforms to advocate for religious beliefs and offer support to public figures can be a growing trend in society. - **Community Engagement:** Engaging local communities in campaigns and initiatives to address social issues and support those in need can gain traction as a meaningful trend. ### Who This Affects Most - **Religious Organizations:** Religious organizations can explore innovative ways to reach out to public figures and offer them support during difficult times. - **Entertainment:** The entertainment industry could find opportunities to collaborate with religious leaders to raise awareness about social issues and support public figures. - **Charity and Non-profit:** Charitable organizations and non-profits can partner with religious groups to address local community needs and create meaningful impact. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Holistic Spiritual Journey Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spiritual-journey.md) - [Celebrity Pride Partnerships](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/happy-hippie-partnership.md) - [Service Humans Programs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/service-humans-needed.md) - [Homelessness-Supporting Blanket Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-klein.md) - [Stunning Cause-Supporting Dishes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prayerbowls.md) - [Crisis Response Services](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/charity-1.md) - [Faith-First Online Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-mission.md) - [Suicide Prevention Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/suicide-prevention-campaigns.md) - [Metaphorical Physical Community Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lighthouse-church.md)
