# Adaptive Olympic Stadiums The Brisbane Olympic Stadium Proposal Rethinks Seating and Roof Systems By Amy Duong | Published 2026-01-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brisbane-olympic-stadium References: [hassellstudio](http://hassellstudio.com/) & [coxarchitecture.au](https://www.coxarchitecture.com.au/) The Brisbane Olympic Stadium is a competition-winning proposal that reimagines how a large-scale sports venue can adapt beyond a single global event. The design centers on a continuous roof canopy that wraps the seating bowl, providing climate protection while maintaining openness to the surrounding city. Seating layouts are designed to shift between athletics and football configurations, allowing the stadium to support multiple event types during the 2032 Games and in the years that follow. The perimeter is defined by permeable façades that bring daylight into concourses and establish visual connections between the interior and surrounding parkland. Circulation routes are arranged to encourage movement around and through the building, creating public promenades that remain active outside event days. Structural clarity and durable materials reinforce the stadium’s civic role, positioning it as a long-term piece of urban infrastructure rather than a temporary Olympic venue.
