# Fleecy Swaying Playthings Bright Spark Rocking Sheep is a Whimsically Woolly Stallion Substitute By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-01-14 | Life-Stages Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bright-spark-rocking-sheep References: [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/45526/) & [etsy](http://www.etsy.com/listing/90345662/rocking-sheep?ref=sr_gallery_1&sref=&ga_search_submit=&ga_search_query=sheep&ga_order=date_desc&ga_ship_to=US&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_facet=handmade) The iconic rocking horse is a successful time-tested toy for young children, but its wooden form is a little hard on toddlers with questionable balance. The Bright Spark Rocking Sheep is an adaptation of a design by Povl Kjer which replaces the graceful muscular creature with a soft and stocky one. It might remind you of the sport of sheep riding for bull riding beginners, but ultimately this endearing piece is designed to charm youngsters with a sense of safety and amusement. The woolly texture of genuine sheepskin provides sensory intrigue and fluffy cushioning. Beneath it, a handmade animal-shaped frame of Baltic birch plywood acts as a sturdy structure for the Bright Spark Rocking Sheep, extending into a pair of long shallow rockers for steady swaying. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 37% | Activity: 54% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Alpha - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Youth](https://www.trendhunter.com/youth) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Soft Play Toys:** The success of the Bright Spark Rocking Sheep demonstrates the growing demand for soft, safe and whimsical playtime options for young children. - **Sensory Toys:** The Bright Spark Rocking Sheep's textured, fluffy surface highlights a trend for toys that provide tactile and sensory stimulation for young children. - **Eco-friendly Toys:** The handmade, Baltic birch plywood frame of the Bright Spark Rocking Sheep is an example of the growing trend for eco-friendly and sustainable children's toys. ### Who This Affects Most - **Children's Toy Industry:** The Bright Spark Rocking Sheep exemplifies the need for innovation in the children's toy industry, to provide safer, more sustainable, and engaging playtime options. - **Textile Industry:** The tactile and sensory aspects of the Bright Spark Rocking Sheep's genuine sheepskin cover showcase the need for soft and sustainable textile solutions in the children's toy market. - **Furniture Industry:** The sturdy, handmade frame of the Bright Spark Rocking Sheep highlights opportunities for innovation in functional and sustainable furniture design for children. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sleek Structural Rocking Horses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rocking-horse-chair.md) - [Youth-Ready Rocking Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ready-rocker-1.md) - [All-Ages Portable Rockers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ready-rocker.md) - [Dynamic Movement Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wobbl-rocking-chair.md) - [Intricately Handcrafted Animal Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lulu-the-lamb.md) - [Durable Musical Children’s Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/together-in-tune-piano.md) - [Sheep Fleece Fiberglass-Like Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/welsh-mountain-hembury-chair.md) - [Bubble-Shaped Cribs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bubble-baby-bed.md) - [Modernized Rocking Chair Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nodding-chair.md)
