The Los Angeles-based artist captures the intricacies of wood, debris and various construction materials, emphasizing the unforeseen allure of chips and deep cuts. Cooper's pieces are rooted in profound existential considerations as he stated that he makes pieces which "...struggle with their function as devices for transcendent harmony. They do their job while acknowledging the disorder and uncertainty from which they come." This notion of disorder is certainly apparent. The beams of [colored lumber](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/no1-common) cross over one another in a haphazard manner, displaying the visual allure of all out chaos. These [maze-like puzzles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistedition-jigsaw-puzzles) are however ordered in a sense via Cooper's inclusion of secret messages within his collages. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 71% | Activity: 81% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Deceptive Depth:** Using artistic techniques to create the impression of tangible depth and volume in one-dimensional paintings. - **Beauty in Disorder:** Emphasizing the allure of chaos and disorder in art and design. - **Secret Messages:** Incorporating hidden messages and elements in artwork and design. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** Using techniques to create optical illusions and play with perception in art and design. - **Construction:** Incorporating the aesthetics of wood, debris, and construction materials in design. - **Marketing and Advertising:** Incorporating hidden messages and elements in marketing campaigns and product design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Geometric Sculpture Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illusion-box.md) - [Geometric Wooden Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aleph-geddis.md) - [Abstract Geometric Solo Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/impermanent-state-of-being.md) - [Intersecting Dimensional Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diorama.md) - [Boundary-Pushing Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/briony-douglas-1.md) - [Glass Beaded Intricate Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition.md) - [Otherworldly Wooden Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1.md) - [Structured Art Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flowchart.md)
