# Forest Furnishings The Brench Bench Wins the Design Platform Limburg Prize By Meghan Young | Published 2010-10-28 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brench-bench References: [brench.eu](http://www.brench.eu/) Although there are a lot of [eco-friendly furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rosana-sousa) available now, many of them are not entirely good for the environment, nor do they interact with nature. The Brench bench, however, is, and does, both. It is created without killing or stunting the growth of trees and puts you smack dab in the middle of a [natural setting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-for-the-trees). Created by Andries Vanvinckenroye, the Brench bench is made out of special [bio-compatible materials](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roots-collection-1), which allow it to rest easy in forests and even backyards. By attaching to two trees, the Brench bench easily accommodates those looking to put up their feet while keeping the trees out of harm's way. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 59% | Activity: 43% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Eco-friendly Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop furniture made from bio-compatible materials to minimize environmental impact. - **Nature-integrated Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create furniture that interacts with the natural environment and provides a unique outdoor experience. - **Tree-friendly Bench:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design benches that attach to trees without damaging them, providing a sustainable seating solution. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate eco-friendly materials and nature-inspired designs into furniture production processes. - **Outdoor Recreation:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop eco-friendly seating solutions for outdoor spaces, enhancing the connection between people and nature. - **Sustainable Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the development of furniture that supports environmental sustainability without compromising functionality or aesthetics. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tree-Intertwined Metal Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tenir-bench.md) - [Sprouting Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wood-chair-on-grass.md) - [Living Plant DIY Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/green-hideaway.md) - [Threshold Bench Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/torii.md) - [Sustainable Wooden Natural Materials](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forestbank.md) - [Felled Tree Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ptacek-home-chunk-line.md) - [Sustainable Biophilic Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inspired-by-nature.md) - [Organic Ancient Design Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/earth-to-people-furniture-collection.md) - [Ring-Shaped Forest Blenches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nesting-loops.md)
