# Breathing Plant Pots Intuitive Planters by Jae-Han Song By Pearl | Published 2008-11-30 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/breathing-plant-pots-simulated-breathing-stops-when-plants-need-watering References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2008/11/27/breathing-plants-demand-attention/) It's easy to see why so many [potted plants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plant-irrigation) die. Unlike pets, plants just don't show you when they need watering until it is too late. So Jae-Han Song's concept design for [breathable plant pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tilt-planter) is a great idea for the botanically-challenged who need all the [visual cues](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oko-sensor) they can get. The simulated breathing of the pots reminds the homeowner that it is still alive and well. But when it stops "breathing," then it is time to give it water and put it in a spot where it can get sunshine. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 16% | Activity: 48% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Breathing Plant Pots:** The trend of incorporating technology into plant pots to visually signal when plants need watering. - **Intuitive Planters:** The trend of designing planters that provide visual cues to indicate the health and well-being of plants. - **Simulated Breathing:** The trend of creating plant pots that mimic the respiratory movements of living organisms to incite better care for plants. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** The industry of home decor can capitalize on the trend of breathing plant pots by creating aesthetically pleasing designs that blend form and function. - **Gardening:** The gardening industry can leverage the trend of intuitive planters to offer innovative products that make plant care easier and more accessible for consumers. - **Smart Home:** The smart home industry can integrate the trend of simulated breathing in plant pots into their automation systems, enhancing the overall ecosystem within a home. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Virtual Pet Planter Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plant-pot-concept.md) - [Self-Watering Plant Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vivo-pot.md) - [Smart Self-Watering Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tendril-1.md) - [Self-Watering Smart Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-leafypod.md) - [Self-Watering Flowerpots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gropot.md) - [Self-Watering Desk Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/posha.md) - [Futuristic Self-Watering Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-klaustrafloria.md) - [Dementia Support Smart Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plant-smart-planter.md) - [Uniquely Shaped Self-Watering Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/self-watering-plant-house.md)
