# Thermal Imaging Safety Masks The 'Scott Safety' Breathing Mask Features Handsfree Technology By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2016-04-25 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/breathing-mask References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/scott-sight-firefighting-thermal-imaging-mask/42947/) & [scottsafetynation](http://www.scottsafetynation.com/scott-sight-video/) Firefighters face entering spaces with little to no visibility everyday, so the '[Scott Safety](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/salmon-superfood-bowl)' breathing mask is designed to offer a helping hand. Existing thermal imaging components are often [handheld and bulky](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thermal-monocular1), so the 'Scott Safety' mask is designed with the technology built-in to help provide comprehensive functionality. The 'Scott Safety' mask was debuted at the FDIC International Convention in Indianapolis and could provide firefighters with technology to get civilians and themselves out of harms way quickly. The [thermal imaging technology](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thermal-imaging-innovation) within the 'Scott Safety' breathing mask allows it to permeate smoke and detect where heat signatures are. These could be people or hidden fires, and the technology will display it to the firefighter on the built-in screen to keep them informed and safe. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 41% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Health](https://www.trendhunter.com/health) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Integrated Thermal Imaging:** The integration of thermal imaging technology into safety masks presents opportunities for enhanced situational awareness and increased safety measures. - **Handsfree Technology:** The development of safety masks with handsfree technology allows firefighters to focus on their tasks without having to manually operate additional equipment. - **Comprehensive Functionality:** Safety masks with built-in thermal imaging technology offer a multifunctional solution for firefighters, enabling them to detect heat signatures and navigate through low-visibility environments. ### Where This Applies - **Firefighting Equipment:** The firefighting equipment industry can explore the integration of thermal imaging technology into safety masks to enhance firefighter safety and effectiveness. - **Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):** The PPE industry can innovate by developing safety masks with handsfree technology, providing convenience and efficiency for a wide range of professions. - **Industrial Safety:** In the industrial safety sector, the use of safety masks with comprehensive functionality, including thermal imaging capabilities, can significantly improve worker safety in hazardous environments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Air-Controlling VR Masks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airres-mask.md) - [Wearer-Analyzing Respirators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ebcare-mask.md) - [Breath-Tracking Face Mask Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/facebit.md) - [Air-Blowing Face Masks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-mask.md) - [Powered Breathability Face Masks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/performance-face-mask.md) - [Aerodynamic Filtration Face Masks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/goa-face-protector.md) - [Eye-Controlled Rescue Helmet](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/argus-ar.md) - [Flame-Resistant Firefighting Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firefighting-drones.md) - [Extreme-Heat Firefighting Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firedrone-by-empa.md)
