# Celebratory Celebrity Knives James Franco's Brad Renfro Forever Switchblade Shows Love and Respect By Meghan Young | Published 2011-06-18 | Celebs Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brad-renfro-forever-switchblade References: [refinery29](http://www.refinery29.com/james-franco-s-brad-renfro-forever-switchblades-now-on-sale) & [thethingquarterly](http://www.thethingquarterly.com/projects/james-franco.html) James Franco's late 'Deuces Wild' co-star, Brad Renfro, has been quite the muse lately, even inspiring this [limited edition](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/special-companion) Brad Renfro Forever Switchblade. Keeping in mind that he recently had Renfro's name carved into his arm, Franco must have really loved and respected his fellow actor. In a continued effort to keep Brad Renfro's memory alive after his untimely death at 25 of a heroin overdose, the Brad Renfro Forever Switchblade was designed in collaboration with LATAMA [Italian cutlery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/damascus) and San Francisco’s own [Moon Editions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guest-in-residence-x-moon-boot). Priced at $650, only 100 signed editions exist. Available in the fall, the Brad Renfro Forever Switchblade measure 11 inches when fully opened and boasts a swivel bolster as well as a black and white brazilian horn handle. For that price, though, I have to wonder if proceeds are going to charity. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 27% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Celebs](https://www.trendhunter.com/celebs) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Celebrity Tribute Merchandise:** This trend involves creating limited edition merchandise as a tribute to deceased celebrities, providing an opportunity for fans to emotionally connect with the celebrity and generate revenue through sales. - **Collaborative Marketing Strategies:** Collaborations between brands, artists and organizations can lead to innovative product design and increase brand equity through shared values and connections with consumers. - **Luxury Collectibles:** Creating limited edition, high-end collectibles from everyday objects can provide unique selling propositions that attract buyers who value exclusivity and rareness as much as the functionality of the object. ### Who This Affects Most - **Entertainment:** Celebrity tribute merchandise can create new revenue streams while also honoring the memory of beloved celebrities, providing opportunities for companies in the entertainment industry. - **Fashion:** Collaborative marketing can lead to innovative product design and exclusive brand collaborations, allowing fashion companies to differentiate themselves in a crowded market and appeal to consumers with limited edition collections. - **Luxury Goods:** Creating high-end, limited edition collectibles from everyday objects can provide luxury goods companies with a unique selling proposition as they satisfy the needs of consumers who want exclusive, rare items that hold resale value. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Luxe Limited-Edition EDC Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-james-brand-barnes-knife.md) - [Luxury High-Strength Pocket Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-james-brand-the-barnes.md) - [Micro Outdoor Lifestyle Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-james-brand-x-huckberry-redstone-knife.md) - [Celebratory Pocket Knife Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gerber-savvy-back-on-black.md) - [Hand-Carved Bronze Bone Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wesn-scrimshaw-henry-collection.md) - [Haute Eyewear-Inspired EDCs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chic-pocket-knife.md) - [Collaboration Retailer Pocket Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapter-2-pocket-knife.md) - [Collaborative Watchmaker Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shinola-x-giantmouse-brass-perlage-bleecker-knife.md) - [Limited-Edition EDC Pocket Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crkt-facet-viral.md)
