# Beer Box Sculptures The Boxel Pavilion is an "Intoxicatingly" Impressive Feat By Meghan Young | Published 2010-08-18 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boxel-pavilion References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2010/08/16/box-sculpture/) & [dudecraft](http://www.dudecraft.com/2010/08/boxel.html) Seems like anything can be created out of...well...anything! Just check out the 'Boxel' pavilion. Architecture students at the [University of Applied Sciences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hybrid-flax-pavilion) in Detmold, Germany, constructed it out of more than 2,000 beer boxes (empty ones, folks). Designer Henri Schweynoch used "[parametric software](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-anton-ii) to control the position of the boxes in relation to the overall geometry and to analyze the structural performance," according to Neatorama. The Boxel pavilion is certainly an "intoxicatingly" impressive feat. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 90% | Activity: 89% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Sustainable Sculpture Art:** Creating sculptures out of recycled materials, like beer boxes, presents an opportunity for sustainable and eco-friendly art installations. - **Parametric Software in Architecture:** Utilizing parametric software to control the position and analyze the structural performance of objects in architectural design allows for innovative and precise constructions. - **Creative Use of Empty Containers:** Repurposing empty containers, such as beer boxes, demonstrates the potential for creative and unconventional uses of everyday materials. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Sculpture:** The art and sculpture industry can explore new opportunities in creating sustainable installations using recycled materials like beer boxes. - **Architecture and Design:** The architecture and design industry can leverage parametric software to enhance precision and innovation in building structures. - **Packaging and Retail:** The packaging and retail industry can tap into creative uses of empty containers to create unique and eye-catching displays for their products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Recycled Bar Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bar-installation.md) - [Box-Like Innovative Apartment Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/innovative-apartment-design.md) - [Tent-Like Exhibition Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bolack-pavilion.md) - [Public Pavilion Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tess-pavilion.md) - [Cardboard Box Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/karton-furniture-collection.md) - [Self-Shaping Timber Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hybrid-flax-pavilion.md) - [Reconfigurable Timber Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arkhive.md) - [Sustainable Cubic Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/appels-architekten.md) - [Striking E-Commerce Packaging](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maksim-arbuzov.md)
