These two [unique seating options](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hybla-seating-system) offer comfort, privacy and a playful element to your living space. Designed by Ivar Gestranius and Kevin Lahtinen of 'Loook Industries,' the Box Sofa and Lounger debuted during the Stockholm Furniture Fair in February 2011. Although either one can easily be placed in a home as an [interesting room divider](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunon-furniture-mixcube) or for some added color in a den or play room, the Box Sofa and Lounger would fit perfectly in public spaces such as offices and libraries. This is because either one would cut out [surrounding noise and movement](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acoustic-lounge), essentially creating a "room within a room." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 34% | Activity: 53% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Modular Furniture:** The Box Sofa and Lounger exemplify the trend of modular furniture, allowing for versatile and customizable seating options. - **Privacy-enhancing Design:** The Box Sofa and Lounger tap into the trend of privacy-enhancing design, providing individuals with a sense of personal space in shared environments. - **Playful Home Decor:** The Box Sofa and Lounger contribute to the trend of playful home decor, adding a touch of creativity and whimsy to any living space. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The furniture manufacturing industry can leverage the concept of modular furniture design to offer customers customizable seating options that cater to their unique needs. - **Commercial Interiors:** The commercial interiors industry can incorporate privacy-enhancing designs like the Box Sofa and Lounger to create comfortable and focused environments for employees and customers. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate playful home decor elements like the Box Sofa and Lounger to add character and charm to their clients' living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Comfy Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cushy-lounge-chair.md) - [Stacked Brick-Like Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-brick-modular-sofa.md) - [People-Pleasing Office Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cubicle-system.md) - [Curvaceous Modular Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blocks-modular-sofa.md) - [Interlocking Living Room Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interlocking-living-room-furniture.md) - [Family-Friendly Modular Couches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rubik-v-cloud-modular-couch.md) - [Oblong Color-Blocked Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meritalia-morphologica-collection.md) - [Modular Cat-Friendly Couches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quarter-sofa.md) - [Acoustic Office Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acoustic-lounge.md)
