This book, photographed by Brian Bowen Smith, features exactly what the title says: the men and women of Marc Jacobs. The photographer began taking photos for the Men and Women of Marc Jacobs lookbook over three years before it was published. Bowen Smith, who also collaborated with Jacobs during his 2006 charity campaign shots featuring celebrities in the nude, took these photos while traveling with the company to store openings.
The Men and Women of Marc Jacobs is full of impromptu shots, taken spontaneously with the employees spending only 15 minutes at a time with Bowen Smith. The whole idea of this book is to capture the people behind the Marc Jacobs brand. Bowen Smith had the employees wear their own clothes, to showcase their own unique sense of style. The Men and Women of Marc Jacobs is not a book of fashion editorials with outfits made by stylists, but more a book showcasing the real people behind Marc Jacobs and their real sense of style.
