# Separate Standing Windowsills The Charming Bow Window Provides a Place to Cuddle Up with a View By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-04-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bow-window References: [mariedessuant](http://www.mariedessuant.com/index.php?/projects/bow-window/) When I was little, I thought that it would be so amazing to have a bay window in my bedroom so that I could curl up with a blanket and a book and watch the world go by. The Bow Window is a whimsical solution to introducing an [enclosed bench](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knoll-perron-bun) in any room that doesn't offer this setup architecturally. Designer Marie Dessuant made this endearing piece of furniture out of wood, finishing it with a coat of cheerful yellow paint on the inside and a more subdued blue on the outside. It stands sturdily on [four legs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-view-chair) and provides an elevated rectangular seat that's complete with two walls and an [overhead arch](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/take-a-bow-centre). Assembled to produce the subtle illusion of perspective, the Bow Window can be drawn right up to a pane of glass, or positioned anywhere you like, really. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 40% | Activity: 4% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Enclosed Window Benches:** Designing enclosed window benches for comfortable, picturesque views creates an opportunity for furniture designers to innovate in a way that would offer a comfortable space to watch the world go by. - **Architectural Illusions:** Incorporating perspective-shifting illusions into furniture design offers an opportunity for designers to add a dynamic dimension for the viewer. - **Personalized Seating:** Creating personalized seating options for any room allows designers to tailor pieces to specific spaces, budgets and atmospheres. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Providing innovating furniture pieces for homes and businesses creates an opportunity for interior designers to showcase and customize their spaces. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Incorporating architectural illusions within furniture designs offers a chance for furniture manufacturing to invest in new materials while adding value to the final product. - **Architecture:** Creating furniture that can enhance architectural designs creates an opportunity for architects to select pieces that complement their building's aesthetics. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Window-Imitating Smart Light Panels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vindow.md) - [Elegantly Airy Outdoor Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arch-bench.md) - [Tranquil Reading Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapters-furniture.md) - [Relaxed Anti-Distraction Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fortune-chair.md) - [Sliding Wintery Landscape Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manhwabang-bookshelf.md) - [Architectural Library Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reading-nooks.md) - [Modern Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bow-chair.md) - [Recessed Digital Wall Windows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquidview-digital-window.md) - [Paper Cord-Wrapped Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-bench.md)
