# Archery-Inspired Lighting The Bow Light by Observatory Provides Direct and Indirect Illumination By Meghan Young | Published 2014-12-17 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bow-light References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/bow-lighting-observatory/) & [observatorydesign](http://www.observatorydesign.com/Bow-Lamp) The Bow Light is made for the likes of Katniss from 'Hunger Games' or even Legolas of 'Lord of the Rings' fame. The fixture is modeled after the archery weapon. But instead of being at all corny or outdated, the Bow Light is minimalist and modern. It is also quite practical in that it sheds both direct and indirect lighting in the home. Designed by Observatory, the Bow Light is made out of natural wood and metal. It features a crisp, minimal powder-coated shade that diverts and reflects at the same time. The Bow Light comes in two models: one with a larger reflector that covers both wall and work surfaces with light and a nude version, which provides overall room lighting. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 63% | Activity: 37% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Archery-inspired Lighting:** Opportunity to integrate natural materials and unique designs into home lighting products. - **Minimalist Lighting Design:** Further design opportunities to create practical and modern lighting fixtures. - **Multifunctional Lighting:** Innovations that allow for both direct and indirect illumination in a singular light source. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** Integrate sustainable and unique lighting designs to enhance interior decor. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity to incorporate stylish and practical lighting designs into furniture pieces. - **Architecture and Design:** Opportunities to create custom lighting designs that enhance interior and exterior building designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp.md) - [Bold Playful Lighting Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/little-lebow-table-lamp.md) - [Nautical-Inspired Warm LIghting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/booi.md) - [Organic Wood Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sandscape-lighting.md) - [Industrial Contemporary Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shop-light.md) - [Cabin-Shaped Reading Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boof-reading-light.md) - [Maximalist Arched Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oblure.md) - [Nature-Inspired Living Space Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moonlight-floor-lamp.md) - [Mushroom-Inspired Outdoor Light](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kinno.md)
