# Agile AI Punching Bags BotBoxer Uses Machine Vision to Help Fighters Train By Joey Haar | Published 2018-03-27 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/botboxer References: [producthunt](https://www.producthunt.com/posts/botboxer) & [botboxer](http://botboxer.com/) At one point or another, everyone's had the urge to throw a haymaker at their computer, but now there's a gadget, called the BotBoxer, that's ready for it. The high-tech punching bag floats like AI and stings like a machine, helping boxers and [martial artists to train](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dojo-champ) smarter. With the standard punching bag, fighters can work on their power and speed, but the prop is always stationary. Some companies have begun to harness the power of [machine tracking, using sensors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pushups) in punching bags to collect data on force, velocity, and direction. BotBoxer includes this haptic sensing, but it also uses [high-speed computer vision](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bodypark-atom) and a motor in its base to actually react to and move away from oncoming punches, simulating the movement of a real opponent. BotBoxer can be set at different training levels depending on the users' skill level, and at its most intense, it can react faster than the world's best human fighters. Not only is this valuable for gathering more accurate data during training, but it reduces the need to spar with humans, mitigating the risk of injury ahead of a fight. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 35% | Activity: 93% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [AI](https://www.trendhunter.com/ai) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Machine Tracking Boxing Training:** The use of machine tracking and sensors in punching bags revolutionizes boxing training by providing real-time data on force, velocity, and direction. - **Computer Vision and AI in Martial Arts:** Incorporating high-speed computer vision and AI technology into martial arts training equipment enhances the realism and effectiveness of training simulations. - **Reducing Injury Risk in Combat Sports:** The development of advanced training equipment like BotBoxer enables athletes to minimize the risk of injury by sparring with automated systems instead of human opponents. ### Who This Affects Most - **Sport and Fitness Equipment Manufacturing:** Manufacturers in the sport and fitness equipment industry have the opportunity to incorporate machine tracking and computer vision technology into their products to enhance training experiences. - **Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning:** AI and machine learning companies can explore the application of their technologies in combat sports training equipment, paving the way for more intelligent and responsive training tools. - **Combat Sports Training Facilities:** Combat sports training facilities can leverage innovative technologies like BotBoxer to provide athletes with safer and more efficient training methods. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Proactively Challenging Boxing Trainers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boxing-trainers.md) - [AI-Powered At-Home Boxing Training](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pendulum-boxing.md) - [Connected Punching Bag Covers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ipercut-iperskin.md) - [Smart Home Boxing Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boom-workout-system.md) - [Connected At-Home Boxing Studios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boxx-boxing-studio.md) - [Interactive Music Fitness Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/music-boxing-machine.md) - [Home Gym Sensors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/home-gym1.md) - [Physically Challenging Boxing Projectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/growl.md) - [AI-Powered Tennis Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pongbot-pace-s-series.md)
