# Botanic Floor Coverings Bolon's New Collection Looks Like Hanging Artichokes By Marissa Liu | Published 2010-02-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/botanic-floor-coverings References: [mocoloco](http://mocoloco.com/fresh2/2010/02/25/botanic-by-bolon.php) & [bolon](http://www.bolon.com/camping/) Bolon's new Botanic floor coverings are a collection of [vinyl flowers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/structural-botany) that also look like large, hanging artichokes. The flowers were created by Form Us WIth Love using the floor coverings. Shown at the [Stockholm Furniture Fair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragments), the Botanic floor coverings are made of sound-absorbing, fire- and slip-resistant materials. The flower looks more like a [light fixture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blossom-chandelier) than a floor covering, but I doubt, given the material, if you placed a bulb inside much illumination would be produced. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 35% | Activity: 40% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Vinyl Flowers:** Opportunity for innovative use of vinyl materials in decorative elements. - **Sound-absorbing Flooring:** Potential to incorporate sound-absorbing properties into flooring solutions for improved acoustic environments. - **Multifunctional Floor Coverings:** Disruptive potential for floor coverings that serve dual purposes, such as lighting or decorative elements. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior designers to explore new ways of incorporating vinyl flowers as decorative elements in spaces. - **Flooring Manufacturing:** Potential for flooring manufacturers to develop sound-absorbing materials that enhance the acoustics of spaces. - **Lighting Design:** Innovative possibilities for lighting designers to create lighting fixtures integrated with floor coverings for unique visual effects. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Artfully Playful Morphed Flooring](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/exodus.md) - [Biophilic-Inspired Rug Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/botanica.md) - [Vibrant Dynamic Wall Plant-Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floos.md) - [Floral-Inspired Home Rug Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magical-garden.md) - [Flower-Inspired Vibrant Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/espressionismo-floreale.md) - [Custom Print Flooring](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flotex.md) - [Patterned Bright Carpet Collection](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/newstalgia-collection.md) - [Boldly-Patterned Bespoke Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bolon.md) - [Theatrical Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/exodus-exhibition.md)
