# Aerodynamically Angled Furniture The Bordus Table is Inspired by Stealth Fighter Jets By Meghan Young | Published 2013-04-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bordus-table References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/bordus-table-by-ola-giertz/) & [olagiertz.se](http://www.olagiertz.se/) The simple silhouette of the Bordus Table is made dynamic to the eye through the use of sharp angles and asymmetrical touches. Although the inspiration behind its design could easily be dismissed as part of the geometric phase many artists and designers are currently enjoying, the Bordus Table takes cues from the angular look of [Stealth fighter jets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vtna-table). Envisioned by Swedish furniture and product designer Ola Giertz and built by Benjamin Holm, the Bordus Table is predominantly made out of [solid ash](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boia) with darker walnut dovetail joints as a contrasting detail. Stepping away from the typical round and rectangular coffee tables found in local furniture shops, the Bordus Table can be considered a [sculptural piece](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables) that will elevate the look of living spaces immediately. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 77% | Activity: 56% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Angular Furniture Designs:** Furniture designers can explore creating angular and asymmetrical silhouettes for a unique and dynamic aesthetic - **Influence From Military Technology:** Designers can take inspiration from military technology for furniture designs that are both functional and visually striking - **Sculptural Pieces for Home Decor:** Demand for sculptural home decor pieces that elevate living spaces is on the rise ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can incorporate angular designs and military-inspired details to create unique and high-end products - **Home Decor Retail:** Home decor retailers can cater to consumers' growing interest in sculptural pieces that enhance the look of living spaces - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can suggest angular furniture pieces to clients looking for a statement piece that stands out in a room ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Harmonious Helical Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vortex-coffee-table.md) - [Perplexingly Angular Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tadashi-side-table.md) - [Luxe Low-Slung Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/attraction-coffee-table.md) - [Intersecting Two-Part Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shaolin-side-table.md) - [Fabric-Like Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tablecloth-side-table.md) - [Möbius Strip-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mbelius-coffee-table.md) - [Elegant Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-table.md) - [Fluid Topographic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-table.md) - [Cloud-Inspired Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloud-tables1.md)
