# Minimalist Post Lights The BORD Lamp Stands Upright Like a Nearly Featureless Pole By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-12-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bord-lamp References: [ollimustikainen](http://www.ollimustikainen.com/) Get a glimpse of the BÖRD Lamp from one of several angles and you'll really wonder what purpose it serves. There are two versions of the contemporary illuminator -- a desk lamp and a [floor lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alma-light-totem-i) -- and neither one makes its light-up feature the focus. Olli Mustikainen's design was inspired by a bird with its erect neck and its tiny little beak. It sits on a [round and flat base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flat-light) for stability, becoming a very abstract and industrial 3D caricature of a feathered creature. The body of the BÖRD Lamp is a [long cylindrical shaft](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polyshape), and this is accented with a small tubular protrusion at the top. Light is emitted from the latter as an intense and direct beam. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 54% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Minimalist Lighting:** Opportunity for developing lighting designs that prioritize simplicity and minimalism. - **Abstract Industrial Design:** Potential for creating visually striking and unconventional industrial designs. - **Direct Beam Lighting:** Advancement in lighting technology for focused and intense illumination. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** Innovations in minimalist lighting can cater to the growing demand for stylish and modern home decor. - **Product Design:** Opportunities for designers to explore abstract and industrial-inspired designs in various product categories. - **Lighting Technology:** Advancements in direct beam lighting can be applied across industries such as architecture, retail, and automotive for enhanced illumination. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sleek Minimal Vertical Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mute-lamp.md) - [Multifunctional Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-boring-lamp.md) - [Brutalist Bedside Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vestige-lamp.md) - [Minimal Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/takeout-lamp.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Weighted Multi-Position Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-desk-lamp-design.md) - [Minimalist Mysterious Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/auge-light-mini.md) - [Minimal Aesthetic Light Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flat-light.md) - [Simplistically Complex 3D-Printed Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sopp-lamp.md)
