This [surreal cafe installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caf-tondo) can be found at the entrance to the Faculty of Medicine Experimental Research Building at the [University of Tokyo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/civic-architects-and-vdndp). This work by Torafu Architects is called ‘Boolean’ and was originally intended to be a simple waiting room with a vending machine, using stone as the predominant surface.

That original plan was a bit austere, so Torafu Architects installed [two L-shaped wooden objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blue-bottle-coffee-cafe) at different orientations to create a partition that doubles as a bench. They cut circles into the partition to create the illusion of floating spheres while simultaneously warming up the space and providing a more pleasant atmosphere.
