Its very form has been inspired by the dimensions of a thick hardcover volume and its shape is ideal for stashing it within a [packed bookshelf](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/astropads-new-bookcase). The structure of the device is comprised of an outer shell. It's a rectangular prism with one long edge and one short edge open. Another smaller prism sits inside of it and emits a [bright white glow](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/library-of-light). The illumination is activated when you tip the inner box slightly out of its setting, much like the way you would retrieve a novel from a bookcase. The Booklight by Kahyun Kim is a unique sort of fixture that boasts a space-saving factor and the benefit of the user's delight. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 18% | Activity: 7% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Space-saving Lighting:** The Booklight by Kahyun Kim demonstrates the trend of space-saving lighting solutions by blending in with packed bookshelves. - **Disguised Illumination:** The Booklight by Kahyun Kim exemplifies the trend of disguised illumination by appearing as a regular book when not in use. - **Functional Design:** The Booklight by Kahyun Kim embraces the trend of functional design by combining a reading light with a practical storage solution for books. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Decor:** The Booklight by Kahyun Kim presents an opportunity for the home decor industry to offer innovative lighting solutions that seamlessly integrate with interior designs. - **Book Publishing:** The Booklight by Kahyun Kim suggests potential for collaboration between book publishers and lighting companies to create unique reading experiences. - **Product Design:** The Booklight by Kahyun Kim showcases the potential for product designers to create multifunctional and aesthetically pleasing lighting fixtures. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cabin-Shaped Reading Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boof-reading-light.md) - [Convenient Book Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/android-book-light.md) - [Industrial Light-Equipped Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hidden-light-chair.md) - [Healthy Illumination Reading Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neck-reading-light.md) - [Space-Saving Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacesaving-desk-lamp.md) - [Light-Equipped Reading Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dasung.md) - [Tech-Charging Book Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/haaase-liesma-bookshelf.md) - [Storage-Friendly Task Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/storage-lamp.md) - [Comforting Multifunctional Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buddy-portable-lamp.md)
