# Piping Novel Holders The Bookshelf Pipe Combines Form and Function By Josh Triantafilou | Published 2012-04-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/book-shelf-pipe References: [whatthecool](http://whatthecool.com/post/3485349769/book-shelf-pipe/) & [cup-of-letters.tumblr](http://cup-of-letters.tumblr.com/) For many people, open-concept, brick-walled studio apartments conjure images of the bohemian lifestyle, and this [bookshelf pipe](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-pipe) does well to embellish this scene. Looking at the [eccentric shelving system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qurv), one easily imagines the smell of smoke wafting from cigarette butts strewn around a worn hardwood floor, as an artist goes through the creative process of putting his thoughts on a canvas. This conveniently curved piping offers a [space-saving function](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookmarker-table) while maintaining an aesthetic that is both pleasing and interesting. Certain types of interior design can overdo the eccentric factor, but this creation does a great job at using everyday piping to enhance the look of an apartment. Hopefully the pipes are sturdy enough though, as that could lead to some seriously soaked books! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Industrial Decor:** Creating functional decor pieces from industrial materials for a stylish and unique look. - **Space-saving Design:** Designs that offer functionality and practicality while taking up minimal space. - **Upcycling:** Repurposing everyday items to create something new and valuable. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** Innovating decor pieces that mix both aesthetic appeal and function in homes. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Integrating industrial materials into furniture design for an edgy look. - **Green Living:** Promoting upcycling and repurposing as a sustainable design strategy in home decor. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dual-Purpose Vintage-Inspired Home Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vintageinspired-home-object.md) - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [Dynamic Geometric Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cheft.md) - [Versatile Book Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/penguin-x-moebe-book-stand.md) - [Minimalist Bookish Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-bookshelf.md) - [Twisting Donut-Shaped Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hullabaloo-bookshelf.md) - [Sliding Wintery Landscape Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manhwabang-bookshelf.md) - [Ultra-Slick Modern Pipes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-pipe.md) - [Living Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treevive.md)
