# Peculiar Poetic Planters Let Your Imagination and Plants Grow with The Book Planter on Etsy By Jaime Neely | Published 2011-06-08 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/book-planter1 References: [etsy](http://www.etsy.com/listing/69663733/book-planter?ref=v1_other_1) & [etsy](http://www.etsy.com/people/MJPorterDesign) The Book Planter by MJPoterDesign on Etsy is an unconventional, yet charming way to allow plants, flowers and other flora to grow in your home. The Book Planter is a simple device comprised of a hollowed-out hardcover with a wire screen in the bottom to allow drainage. The designer suggests growing only succulents or other short-rooted plants in the Book Planter so as to avoid making a mess. While the plant is not included with this original flower pot, each Book Planter is one-of-a-kind as the designer chooses the books that will be used in each planter. The Book Planter is a great way to add some life to a bookshelf, desk or office. The Book Planter is available for purchase online at the MJPorterDesign on Etsy. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.5/10 - Popularity: 7% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Book Planters:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop a line of customized book planters for specific book genres to appeal to different target markets. - **Indoor Gardening:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create a smart indoor gardening system that utilizes innovative technologies such as automated watering and intelligent lighting. - **Upcycled Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design a collection of upcycled home decor items that repurpose unconventional materials, combining functionality with sustainability. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop a subscription-based home decor service that offers unique and eco-friendly products, including the Book Planter. - **E-commerce:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create a platform specializing in selling unique and unconventional products like the Book Planter, connecting independent designers with a global customer base. - **Gardening:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop an online platform that provides gardening tips, personalized indoor plant recommendations, and connects users with local gardening experts. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Multifunctional Plant Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/face-plant-planter.md) - [Uniquely Shaped Self-Watering Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/self-watering-plant-house.md) - [Self-Watering Compact Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patella-crescenda.md) - [Virtual Pet Planter Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plant-pot-concept.md) - [Naturalistic Self-Watering Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apot-selfwatering-planter.md) - [Detailed Ceramic Book Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/biblio-bloom.md) - [Illusory Planter Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rooted-planter.md) - [Trellis-Equipped Indoor Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blume-planter.md) - [Vertical Workstation Wall Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceramic-wall-planter.md)
