It appears, itself, to be made of cardboard and look rather sturdy. The shelf is designed and manufactured by [Ibride](http://www.ibride.fr/ibride.htm) - a site that is cool but, difficult to navigate if you're in a hurry. **Implications** - This polar bear-shaped book shelf is an example of the novelty design that is becoming more and more popular as time progresses. Today's fun-loving consumer enjoys a silly element, especially in consideration of today's chaotic society and the toll it can take on one's mentality. Thus, companies can incorporate a sense of whimsy in their product design to ensure consumers don't only like their products, but enjoy them. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 66% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Novelty Design:** Designing products with a silly and whimsical element is becoming more popular as consumers seek joy and escape from chaotic society. - **Cardboard Furniture:** The use of cardboard as a material for furniture is gaining traction due to its sturdiness and sustainable qualities. - **User-friendly Design:** Companies should focus on creating products that are easy to navigate and use, in order to cater to busy and impatient consumers. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** Furniture designers can explore novelty design concepts, such as animal-shaped bookshelves, to attract fun-loving consumers. - **Sustainable Materials:** Industries involved in furniture manufacturing can leverage cardboard as a sustainable alternative to traditional materials. - **User Experience Design:** Companies specializing in user experience design can help improve website navigation and make online shopping more efficient for consumers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Twisting Donut-Shaped Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hullabaloo-bookshelf.md) - [Sliding Wintery Landscape Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manhwabang-bookshelf.md) - [Abstract Jigsaw-Like Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spectator-shelf.md) - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md) - [Speaker-Inspired Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lloyd-tex.md) - [Room-Dividing Bookshelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frquence-shelf.md) - [Toy Block-Inspired Wooden Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rotating-picture-book.md)
