# Book-Resembling Cutting Boards Sebastian Bergne Created the Book Boards to Give a Unique Illusion By Amy Duong | Published 2018-04-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/book-boards References: [design-milk](https://design-milk.com/book-boards-are-wooden-cutting-and-serving-boards-by-sebastian-bergne/) & [sebastianbergne](http://www.sebastianbergne.com/) A range of Book Boards are the latest pieces created by British designer Sebastian Bergne. The Book Boards are wooden [cutting boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caraway-prep-serve-butcher-block) that resemble both the shape and size of books. They can also be used as serving boards and make storage easy, as they can be placed vertically on a countertop or shelf among cookbooks because they easily blend in. A group of Book Boards can be accumulated to mimic a grouping of books as well. Every single board is constructed from a variety of different [reclaimed woods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/legni-collection), so each one would be unique in terms of sizing, wood grain, and wood species. Bergne has launched a limited amount of Book Boards so far -- a total of 50, with every one numbered and branded. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 53% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Kitchen](https://www.trendhunter.com/kitchen) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Book-resembling Products:** Opportunity for creating other products that resemble books but serve a different purpose, such as book-shaped storage containers or book-shaped home decor items. - **Reclaimed Wood Products:** Demand for unique and sustainable products made from reclaimed wood, leading to opportunities for creating furniture, home accessories, and decor items using reclaimed wood. - **Hidden Functionality Design:** Opportunity for designing products that have a hidden functionality or multiple uses, allowing them to easily blend in with their environment while also serving a practical purpose. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** Innovative home decor products inspired by the design of books, such as book-shaped storage containers, book-shaped lamps, or book-shaped wall art. - **Kitchenware:** Reclaimed wood cutting boards and serving boards, similar to the Book Boards, that offer a unique aesthetic and sustainable option for kitchen tools. - **Furniture:** Furniture pieces made from reclaimed wood that incorporate hidden functionality and mimic the form of books, creating a cohesive and visually interesting decor theme. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Intricate Wooden Serving Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-serving-board.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Twisting CGI-Designed Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookscrew-sideboard.md) - [Minimalist Bookish Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-bookshelf.md) - [Multifunctional Kitchen Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/latticeboard-multipurpose-kitchen-board.md) - [Artsy Serving Tableware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecoresin-accented-cheese-and-charcuterie-serving-boards.md) - [Minimalist Preparation Cutting Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mudra-cutting-board.md) - [Hybrid Serving Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/viking-acacia.md) - [Cheese-Shaped Charcuterie Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cheese-block-with-knife.md)
