# Weaponized Home Decor The 'Megaton' Bomb Floor Lamp Will Blow Your Guests Away By Megan Facciuolo | Published 2014-03-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bomb-floor-lamp References: [technabob](http://technabob.com/blog/2014/03/17/megaton-bomb-floor-lamp/) & [stockpiledesigns](http://www.stockpiledesigns.com/shop/megaton-floor-lamp) This bomb floor lamp is anything but ordinary to use as home decor. Stock Pile Designs created this lamp using the casing of a 100LB Korean War-era kinetic bomb -- disarmed, of course. The original painting is stripped, and the insides are dismantled; the remains are hand-polished. The heavy lamp manages to hang 42 inches from the ground by a slim, steel stand. This definitely an ecological solution to the disposing of old military firearms. Not to mention, it is definitely and awesome gift for a history buff (if you can afford it.) Though the bomb is diffused, I can't promise that it won't blow up your bank account; it runs at a price around $1,680 (and that's without the optional shade.) ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 34% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Upcycling Home Decor:** Using disarmed military artifacts as home decor creates a new opportunity for upcycling and giving second life to discarded items. - **Shock Value Decor:** Decor items that are unconventional and unconventional can provide a chance to create buzz and promote brands or individual designers. - **Nostalgic Decor:** Designs that evoke fond memories of iconic objects provide an opportunity for creating items that have a deep emotional connection with customers. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Furnishings:** Artisans can use the concept of upcycling and unconventional decor to create unique and high-end home decor products. - **Interior Design:** Decor with shock value can inspire interior designers and stagers to create unique, memorable and high-impact environments. - **Museums and Theme Parks:** Re-purposing disarmed military hardware can enable museums and theme parks to create immersive and historically accurate environments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Opulent Armory Clock Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lepe-1839-grenade-clock.md) - [Daylight-Mimicking Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brighter-floor-lamp.md) - [Scenic Architecture Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/architecture-inspired-table-lamp.md) - [Dual-Purpose Camera-Like Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nostalgian-floor-lamp-clock.md) - [Nature-Inspired Living Space Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moonlight-floor-lamp.md) - [Quirky Common Item Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-lamp-lighter.md) - [Brutalist Bedside Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vestige-lamp.md) - [Vintage-Inspired Candle Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vintageinspired-candle-lamps.md) - [Sculptural Lunar Lighting Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moonsetter-floor-lamp.md)
