# Office Supplies as Art Boex Hot Pink Pencil Bench By Bianca | Published 2007-11-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boex-pencil-bench References: [boex](http://www.boex.co.uk/projects-pencil-bench.htm#) The [Pencil Bench](http://www.boex.co.uk/projects-pencil-bench.htm#) by Boex is a wooden bench that has over 1,000 hot pink pencils in place of a cushion. "We designed this award winning, quirky bench to incorporate an everyday office object into a piece of furniture," [Boex](http://www.boex.co.uk/projects-pencil-bench.htm#)wrote. For me, the intrigue is all in the design. I don't think this is really something anyone would want to sit on. Literally getting a pencil up your butt? No thanks. But looking at a row of 1,600 perfectly aligned, hot pink pencils, each individually sprung on beautiful chocolate-brown stained wooden legs? Any time! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 35% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Upcycling Office Supplies:** Exploring new ways to repurpose and transform everyday office objects into unique and innovative furniture pieces. - **Quirky Furniture Design:** Creating furniture that incorporates unconventional materials and designs that spark intrigue and conversation. - **Artistic Home Decor:** Using art-inspired decor to enhance the aesthetic appeal and creativity of living spaces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** Opportunity to create unique and eye-catching furniture pieces using unconventional materials and designs. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating artistic and unconventional home decor pieces to transform living spaces into visually stimulating environments. - **Sustainable Design:** Exploring sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives for furniture and home decor through creative upcycling and repurposing ideas. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Volcanic Rock-Inspired Cabinet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuff-pencil-cabinet.md) - [Sculptural Writing Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/experimental-pencils.md) - [Dumpster Pencil Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dumpstuder-pencil-holders.md) - [Paper Cord-Wrapped Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-bench.md) - [Industrial Wrapped Plywood Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/indoor-bench.md) - [Computer-Supported Artful Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mac-pro-bench.md) - [Sustainable Paper-Infused Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/detalji-bench.md) - [Futuristic Sculptural Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arnardo-desk.md) - [Minimalist Meditative Bench Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pause-bench.md)
