# Futuristic Fire Stations BOCA Fire Station Has a Sleek, Modern Design By Joey Haar | Published 2017-12-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boca-fire-station References: [archdaily](https://www.archdaily.com/885711/boca-fire-station-taller-diez-05) Fire stations are most commonly associated with modernist American Gothic architecture, but BOCA Fire Station in Veracruz, Mexico, shows that the [public buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/communal-barbecue) need not necessarily conform to that mold. The building employs a distinctly [contemporary style](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/babel-housing-mexico), harnessing gestures from movements like Bauhaus and brutalism rather than falling back on tired tropes. Part of the visual interest in BOCA Fire Station is a result of the area on which it sits. The property is shaped like a sharp scalene triangle, which forced the architects behind the building to use creative structurations on both the interior and exterior. The building itself is entirely raised on columns that encircle the base, giving the building a [floating appearance](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boathouse-zuka) that the architects refer to as "a floating boat, in the middle of an urban sea." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Contemporary Fire Station Design:** The BOCA Fire Station in Veracruz, Mexico showcases a modern, non-traditional architecture style for fire stations. - **Creative Structurations in Architecture:** The unique triangular shape of the BOCA Fire Station led to innovative design solutions for both the interior and exterior. - **Architectural Influences From Bauhaus and Brutalism:** The design of the BOCA Fire Station incorporates elements from Bauhaus and brutalism, creating a visually interesting and distinct aesthetic. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Architects and designers can explore non-traditional approaches in fire station design, taking inspiration from the BOCA Fire Station. - **Construction:** Construction companies have the opportunity to implement creative structurations in architectural projects, as demonstrated by the BOCA Fire Station. - **Urban Planning:** Urban planners can consider incorporating elements from Bauhaus and brutalism in public buildings to create a unique and visually engaging cityscape, similar to the BOCA Fire Station. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Pre-Fabricated Fire Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fire-station-67.md) - [Grey-Brick Police Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bovenbouw-architectuur-1.md) - [Triangular Concrete Apartment Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mo288.md) - [Treehouse-Style Tranquil Resorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frida-escobedo.md) - [Minimal Wooden Lush Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boca-de-agua.md) - [Bushfire-Resistant Contemporary Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ironbark-house.md) - [Rustic Ruin-Inspired Aquariums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-sea-of-cortez-research-center.md) - [Temple-Inspired Sculptural Lighthouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/el-faro.md) - [Rescue Architecture Concept](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lynx-1.md)
