While concrete is not usually associated with warm climates and coastal locales, the stark exterior provides a cool contrast to the surrounding seaside. The S&S House is a breezy holiday home located along the Argentinian coastline. The home boasts board-marked concrete walls and warm wood detailing that offsets the stark grey tones. The thin concrete slabs are arranged to create a staggered frame that lets light shine in from above and from the front. As a result, the materials provide a low-maintenance solution for combating the coastal elements. The unique design demonstrates how [industrial materials such as concrete](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-serra) can be advantageous in coastal environments. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 95% | Activity: 89% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Industrial Materials:** Exploring the advantages of industrial materials such as concrete in new and unexpected environments. - **Board-marked Concrete:** Innovative use of board-marked concrete in architectural designs for a unique and modern aesthetic. - **Coastal Architecture:** Utilizing unconventional materials and designs to create durable and functional structures in coastal regions. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Construction:** Opportunity for construction companies to incorporate industrial materials in coastal home designs for increased durability and aesthetic appeal. - **Architecture:** Incorporating board-marked concrete in architectural designs to create visually striking and modern structures. - **Tourism and Hospitality:** Developing coastal holiday homes with unconventional materials to attract tourists looking for unique and modern vacation experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Textured Concrete Tiered Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shift-house.md) - [Concrete Brutalist Hilltop Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pedro-domingos-arquitectos.md) - [Hillside Concrete Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concrete-house-1.md) - [Coastal Island Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pasparakisfriel.md) - [Textural Greek Holiday Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/southwand-house.md) - [Orange Tonal Concrete Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colien-house.md) - [Cast-Concrete Cooling Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fr-house.md) - [Park-Nestled Concrete Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-serra.md) - [Coastal Timber Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-guaec-project.md)
