# Modernized Antique Sculptures Bo Christian Larsson Installations Change Vintage into Contemporary By Gil Cohen | Published 2013-01-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bo-christian-larsson-installations References: [recyclart.org](http://www.recyclart.org/2013/01/suitcases-turned-into-miniature-homes) & [bochristianlarsson](http://www.bochristianlarsson.com/) Composed of a selection of [mixed media](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ladder-series), Bo Christian Larsson installations are highly unusual and very enticing. The juxtaposition of various different materials used to create each of these [sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fibredog) make for very intriguing works that draw the viewer in. An old-fashioned sailboat model in all black seems to morph seamlessly into a modern black leather handbag, creating a blend of old world and new. Bird heads seem to rip through the plastic tubing that surrounds them, as though cracking through a strangely oblong eggshell. [Vintage suitcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-into-darkness) are turned into dollhouses and grandfather clocks are given giant wooden feet. The Bo Christian Larsson Installations take items that would be recognizable and completely transforms them. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 75% | Activity: 39% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Mixed Media Art:** Embrace the unique and unexpected by combining various materials in creating art - from vintage to contemporary. - **Upcycling:** Transform old world objects into new world masterpieces - bridging the past and present. - **Interactive Art Installations:** Create an immersive experience for visitors with art that captivates their attention and engages their senses. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art:** The art industry can explore new avenues of artistic expression by blending old and new materials. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can incorporate upcycling in creating unique and sustainable pieces that capture the essence of the past. - **Museum and Gallery:** Museums and galleries can offer interactive art installations that create a lasting and memorable experience for visitors. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Human Torso-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lene-bdker.md) - [Textured Cast Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-scad.md) - [Sophisticated Upcycled Home Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/basket-sculptures.md) - [Fantasy Sculptural Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chris-wolston.md) - [Otherworldly Wooden Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1.md) - [Industrial Architecture-Themed Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/industrial-archaeology.md) - [Surreal Love-Themed Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joakim-ojanen.md) - [Analog Nostalgia Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/back-to-basics-ii.md) - [Whimsical Sculptural Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/city-block-series.md)
