# Space-Aged Antiques Blue Spock Portrait Plate Combines Fancy Tableware with Star Trek Iconography By Christopher DeLuca | Published 2011-06-07 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blue-spock-portrait-plate References: [etsy](http://www.etsy.com/listing/74789943/flow-blue-spock-portrait-plate-altered) & [etsy](http://www.etsy.com/people/BeatUpCreations?ref=ls_profile) The Blue Spock Portrait Plate -- available through its Etsy page for the relatively small amount of $25 -- combines elegant tableware with star trek iconography. The plate is hilarious and would make a great addition to any Sci-Fi fan's collection. What I find particularly interesting about the Blue Spock Portrait Plate is both its choice of Spock amongst all the Star Trek characters and how perfectly it depicts him. The plate is pretty for your thanksgiving dinners with your extended family or for hanging on your wall to showcase to all of your friends when they come over. Another option is to pierce a hole through the top, insert a chain and wear it around your neck. You'll be the most popular person everywhere you go. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 14% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Nostalgic Pop Culture:** The Blue Spock Portrait Plate combines vintage aesthetics with beloved Star Trek iconography, tapping into the trend of nostalgia for pop culture references. - **Crossover Merchandise:** The fusion of elegant tableware with sci-fi imagery opens up opportunities for creating unique crossover merchandise that appeals to niche fan bases and collectors. - **Functional Art:** The Blue Spock Portrait Plate blurs the line between art and utility, showcasing the trend of functional art that adds an element of creativity and whimsy to everyday objects. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** The Blue Spock Portrait Plate can serve as a disruptive innovation opportunity within the home decor industry by offering a distinctive, conversation-starter piece for space-themed or pop culture-inspired interior design. - **Collectibles:** The Blue Spock Portrait Plate caters to the collectibles industry, offering a unique and affordable item that caters to the desires of Star Trek fans and collectors alike. - **Online Marketplace:** The popularity of the Blue Spock Portrait Plate on Etsy suggests a disruptive innovation opportunity within the online marketplace industry, where niche and crossover merchandise can thrive among targeted consumer demographics. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Colorful Enamelware Plates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-tigress.md) - [Replica Sci-Fi Toy Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playmobil-star-trek-klingon-bird-of-prey.md) - [Millennium Falcon Trays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-tray.md) - [Sci-Fi Media Playsets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buildabridge-mini-bridge.md) - [Starship-Inspired Dynamic Timepieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magellan-automatic-star-trek-warp-speed.md) - [Luxurious Patterned Ceramic Plates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patterned-ceramic-plates.md) - [Sci-Fi-Themed Virtual Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roddenberry-archive.md) - [Zero Gravity-Dining Tableware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zero-microgravity.md) - [Sci-Fi-Inspired Storage Drives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-trek-discovery-flash-drives.md)
