# Strung-Up Libraries The Bloom Bookcase Arranges Reading Materials Along Red Threads By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-04-23 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloom-bookcase References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2013/04/23/bloom-bookcase-by-raw-edges/) & [raw-edges](http://www.raw-edges.com/projects/shuffle) The most common, straightforward and simple way to arrange books is to place them on a flat surface and to provide them with an additional [leaning support](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firm-book-end) to one of the sides or the rear of the cover. The Bloom Bookcase exercises a very [unusual way of storing and showcasing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life) novels that incorporates a [set of strings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/entwined-objects) rather than panels. Raw Edges designed a wooden loom that could take a range of dimensions and support varying numbers of cords that are fastened from top to bottom. Resembling a weaving machine, the eccentric bookshelf contraption integrates stoppers on each thread; Granta's young British novelists' work can be closed around them and seemingly suspended for a unique form of presentation. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 93% | Activity: 89% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Suspended Bookshelves:** Opportunity to create innovative book storage systems that incorporate the use of strings or cords for a unique presentation. - **Weaving-inspired Designs:** Opportunity to integrate elements of weaving machines and looms into furniture designs for a visually striking aesthetic. - **Alternative Book Display Methods:** Opportunity to explore unconventional ways of showcasing books that go beyond traditional flat surfaces and leaning supports. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity for furniture manufacturers to create and market unique bookshelves that utilize string or cord-based designs. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior designers to incorporate weaving-inspired elements into their projects to create visually striking spaces. - **Publishing:** Opportunity for publishers to experiment with alternative book display methods for special editions or limited releases. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Living Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treevive.md) - [Expandable Bookcase Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/burrow-index-bookcase.md) - [Minimalist Bookish Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-bookshelf.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [Minimalist Greenery Bookends](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plant-propagation-bookend.md) - [Wood-Wrapped Contemporary Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graded-school-library.md) - [Toy Block-Inspired Wooden Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rotating-picture-book.md) - [Personality-Enhancing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ordo-book.md)
