#PutRedBack is a [Twitter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/notifier)-powered installation that was set up for the London Design Festival 2015 to address [blood donation awareness](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/we-give-blood) issues. In particular, this installation reminds that gay men in the UK can't give blood unless they've abstained from having sex for a year.

In order to raise awareness about this injustice, [Cheil UK](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/data-driven-digital-experience) launched an installation that would collect 100,000 tweets in order to force parliament to change the laws on this issue.

Each time the #PutRedBack hashtag is used, a drop of red liquid falls into a vessel, symbolizing the amount of potential donations that are going to waste. The entire sculpture mimics the shape of a rainbow flag, and only when filled does the red-colored stripe return to the flag.
