Developed by the team at Ideas That Stick, the Barnacle is designed to be affixed to a vehicle's windshield rather than the wheel. This allows the vehicle to not be driven, but still towed should the driver not come contact [parking enforcement](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/parking-management) in a timely manner. The Barnacle works by being affixed onto the windshield and completely blocking the sightlines for the driver. The Barnacle windshield-blocking device affixes easily onto a vehicle, but won't let go if it's tried to be removed thanks to commercial-grade technology and an alarm system that sets off if it's tampered with. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 86% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Windshield-blocking Devices:** The use of windshield-blocking devices like the Barnacle is a disruptive innovation opportunity for parking enforcement agencies to improve efficiency and convenience in dealing with illegally parked vehicles. - **Alternative to Tire Boots:** The development of the Barnacle as a more efficient alternative to traditional tire boots presents a disruptive innovation opportunity for companies in the vehicle immobilization industry to offer a user-friendly and convenient solution. - **Enhanced Security Technology:** The integration of commercial-grade technology and alarm systems in windshield-blocking devices like the Barnacle creates a disruptive innovation opportunity for security companies to develop advanced anti-tampering solutions for various applications. ### Who This Affects Most - **Parking Enforcement Agencies:** The use of windshield-blocking devices like the Barnacle presents a disruptive innovation opportunity for parking enforcement agencies to enhance their enforcement capabilities and streamline the process of dealing with illegally parked vehicles. - **Vehicle Immobilization Industry:** The development and adoption of windshield-blocking devices like the Barnacle as an alternative to tire boots opens up a disruptive innovation opportunity for companies in the vehicle immobilization industry to offer innovative and user-friendly solutions. - **Security Companies:** The integration of commercial-grade technology and alarm systems in windshield-blocking devices like the Barnacle creates a disruptive innovation opportunity for security companies to expand their product offerings and address new markets requiring advanced anti-tampering solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Protective Windshield Covers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frostguard.md) - [Automotive Hygiene Control Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roadblock-australia.md) - [One-Click Car Protection Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/car-safety-device.md) - [Anti-Theft Car Immobilizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antitheft1.md) - [E-Scooter Parking Monitors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bird-vps.md) - [Antitheft Vehicle Component Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/catalytic-converter-antitheft-device.md) - [Adaptive Parking Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/niels-bohr-car-park.md) - [Windshield Protection Brands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/windshield-protection.md) - [Car Roof Luggage Holder](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/car-storage.md)
