# Paint Splash Furniture Blob Sofa by David Genin is Perfect for Artists By Elsa Blaine | Published 2009-02-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blob-sofa-david-genin References: [trendsnow.net](http://www.trendsnow.net/trends_now_/2009/02/blob-sofa.html#more) Perhaps ‘Splash’ would be a more fitting name to David Genin’s ‘Blob Sofa,’ as the piece definitely looks like a freshly dropped glob of red paint. The cute little additions of the [paint drop footstools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bubble-stool) really complement the splatter effect. Apparently the ‘Blob Sofa’ is made of an [inflatable elasticized material](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perron-pillo) which allows the couch appendages to comfortably conform to your body and also lets you deflate for easy storage. The lounge is a super fun concept by student designer Genin from ESDI Paris. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Inflatable Furniture:** The Blob Sofa demonstrates the trend of using inflatable materials in furniture design for added comfort and easy storage. - **Artistic Design:** The Blob Sofa exemplifies the trend of incorporating artistic elements into furniture design, appealing to creative individuals. - **Playful Aesthetics:** The Blob Sofa showcases the trend of utilizing playful and unconventional aesthetics in furniture design, creating a unique and eye-catching look. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The Blob Sofa presents an opportunity for furniture manufacturers to explore innovative materials and manufacturing techniques to create inflatable furniture with appealing designs. - **Interior Design:** The Blob Sofa opens up new possibilities for interior designers to create playful and artistic spaces that incorporate unconventional furniture designs. - **Student Design:** The Blob Sofa, designed by a student, highlights the potential for emerging designers to bring fresh and creative perspectives to the furniture industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Rippled Modular Furniture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puffa-furniture.md) - [Pool Noodle-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loop-furniture.md) - [Precariously Suspended Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/suspended-sofa.md) - [Bulbous Modular Retro Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/float-sofa-1.md) - [Voluptuous Modern Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reimagined-everyday-sofa.md) - [Oblong Color-Blocked Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meritalia-morphologica-collection.md) - [Flood-Proof Raft-Inspired Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bliss-sofa.md) - [Ultra-Relaxed Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knoll-perron-pillo.md) - [Modular Butter-Inspired Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/butter-sofa.md)
