Authorities believe that a drug trafficker in the Salto del Negro prison on the Canary Island of Las Palmas was planning to climb a wall out of prison and make his getaway in a waiting car. According to officials, "The arrested men had setup an elaborate [surveillance operation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-surveillance) of the prison that involved a [camouflaged tent](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heimplanet-cave-xl), powerful binoculars, telephoto lenses, and motion detection sensors. But authorities caught wind of the plan when they intercepted the inflatable zeppelin as it arrived from the Italian town of Bergamo." **Implications** - The prison system seems to continue to prevail over crime. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 6% | Activity: 53% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Life](https://www.trendhunter.com/life) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Prison Security Innovations:** Opportunity to develop and implement new technologies to prevent prison breaks and enhance security measures. - **Drug Trafficking Tactics:** Increased scrutiny and monitoring of drug trafficking strategies to prevent dangerous activity. - **Surveillance and Monitoring Advancements:** Opportunity for developing better surveillance measures to prevent prison breaks and other illegal activities. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Security Industry:** Opportunity for security companies to improve and expand their offerings for prisons. - **Law Enforcement Industry:** Opportunity for law enforcement to gather more intelligence to better combat drug trafficking activities. - **Technology Industry:** Opportunity for technology companies to develop and implement new surveillance and monitoring technologies. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultrasonic Balloon-Borne Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blimp-drone.md) - [Contraband-Detecting Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/narc-robot-concept.md) - [Inflatable Body Digital Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sobar-drone.md) - [Parachute Delivery Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kirigami-parachute.md) - [Carbon-Caged Mapping Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mapping-drone.md) - [Wildlife Trafficker-Thwarting Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wildlife-traffickerthwarting-app.md) - [Laser-Controlled Military Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lasercontrolled-military-drone.md) - [Carrier Pigeon Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/project-pigeon.md) - [Luxurious Superyacht Airship Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colossea.md)
