# Beaming Biker Alerts BLAZE from Emily Brooke is Designed to Keep Cyclists Safe By Michael Hines | Published 2011-06-18 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blaze-from-emily-brooke References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2011/06/16/laser-guided-bike-lane/) & [geekosystem](http://www.geekosystem.com/laser-guided-bike-lane/) BLAZE from Emily Brooke is a conceptual gadget designed to keep motorists aware that a [biker is riding alongside](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garmin-varia-rearvue-820) them. BLAZE mounts onto a [bike's handlebars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-handlebar) and projects a bright green image of a bicycle ahead of you. The idea is that the projected image will catch the driver's eye next to you (the image can be programmed to flash) and alert him of your presence. While I am not a cyclists, I still like this design. It is incredibly simple and seems like it would be very effective, especially for [cyclists riding at night](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cyclist-safety1). A design like this would go a long way in America where cars and trucks still rule the roads and cyclists are treated like second-class citizens. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 5% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Health](https://www.trendhunter.com/health) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Bike Safety Gadgets:** BLAZE showcases the trend of using innovative gadgets to enhance cyclist safety on the roads. - **Visible Projection Technology:** BLAZE taps into the trend of using projected images to increase visibility and catch attention in potentially dangerous situations. - **Cyclist Awareness Solutions:** BLAZE represents the trend of developing solutions to increase motorists' awareness of cyclists in order to prevent accidents. ### Where This Applies - **Cycling Accessories:** The cycling accessories industry can capitalize on the demand for innovative safety gadgets like BLAZE to cater to the needs of safety-conscious cyclists. - **Projection Technology:** The projection technology industry has an opportunity to further develop and refine visible projection systems for various applications, including enhancing safety on the roads for cyclists. - **Automotive:** The automotive industry could explore partnerships or collaborations with innovators like BLAZE to integrate cyclist awareness solutions into future vehicle technologies, contributing to safer roads for cyclists and motorists. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tech-Enhanced Safety Bike Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rear-bike-light.md) - [Tech-Visible Bike Reflectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/radian-wingman.md) - [Omnidirectional Bike Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vis-lightpool-taillight.md) - [Gesture-Controlled Turn Signal Armbands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flasher-armbands.md) - [Connected Cyclist Radar Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bryton-gardia-r300l.md) - [Ergonomic Urbanite Bike Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lumos-nyxel.md) - [Road-Monitoring Cyclist Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/advanced-driver-assistance-system.md) - [Synced Bike Light Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bike-light-system.md) - [Vehicle-Tracking Cyclist Radar Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garmin-varia-rearvue-820.md)
