# Winged Wire Seating The Black Dove Chair is Beautifully Delicate and Airy By Meghan Young | Published 2012-08-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/black-dove-chair References: [plusmood](http://plusmood.com/2012/08/black-dove-chair-baltasar-portillo/) & [baltasarportillo](http://www.baltasarportillo.com/) Delicate and airy, just like the bird it is named after, the Black Dove Chair is more of a work of art than a piece of furniture. Like its predecessors, the [Armadillo Chair and Lodge Chair](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/armadillo-and-lodge-chairs), it is crafted out of powder-coated wrought iron for a seat that is both strongly built and dainty in looks. According to Plus Mood, "Transparency is a major characteristic in his work creating pieces that are subtle accents that can merge with the space without blocking the view of the spectator." Created by Salvadoran sculptor Baltasar Portillo, the Black Dove Chair is currently being showcased at the Outdoorz Gallery during Paris Design Week. An abstract piece, the [sweeping lines and simple aesthetic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dopio) brings to mind a bird's beauty. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 52% | Activity: 42% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Delicate Furniture:** The trend of delicate furniture offers opportunities for innovative designs that blend strength and aesthetics. - **Transparent Accents:** The trend of transparent accents opens up possibilities for subtle furniture pieces that seamlessly integrate into the environment. - **Abstract Aesthetics:** The trend of abstract aesthetics in furniture design provides opportunities to create visually striking pieces inspired by natural beauty. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The furniture manufacturing industry can explore creating delicate pieces that combine strength and airiness. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can leverage transparent accents to create spaces that feel open and unobtrusive. - **Art and Sculpture:** The art and sculpture industry can incorporate abstract aesthetics in furniture design to push the boundaries of visual expression. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Precise Woven Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-chair-design.md) - [Sculptural Marbled Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tulip-chair.md) - [Intricately Woven Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-chair-designs.md) - [Ergonomic Butterfly-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wings-chair.md) - [Structurally Complex Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-arch-chair.md) - [Supportive Lightning Bolt Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightning-chair.md) - [Sleek Steel Structural Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/combchair.md) - [Bended Tubular Chair-Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wire-chair-concept.md) - [Illusory Disconnected Component Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fly-armchair.md)
