Climate is one of the most important factors to consider when designing a building, and the Birds Island concept has been dreamed up for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Because there isn't this need to to completely enclose a structure in order to offer sufficient shelter, the GRAFT architectural team thought about working on a permeable abode.

This abstract domicile would be swathed in a silicon glass skin that allows the interior to breathe. Set up on stilts, the Birds Island could draw air up from underneath for effective and efficient [passive ventilation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/west-don-ravine-passive-house). The translucent nature of the material would also facilitate the penetration of the sun's beams with welcome diffusion and shading. Finally, [floating solar lotuses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-solai) would harness solar energy to enable a [zero emissions house](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drop-pod).
