# Civilized Avian Feasts Birds Banquet Serves Up a Decorative Spread to Feed the Icelandic Crossbill By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-05-08 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/birds-banquet References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/The-birds-banquet/3810213) I suspect that our feathered friends are not overly concerned with the presentation of their favorite foods; however, the [Birds Banquet](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plant-based-billboard) certainly offers property owners an exquisite collection with which they can decorate their outdoor dining tables. Guðrún Theoodóra Alfreðsdóttir of Reykjavik, Iceland, worked with Svana Lovísa Kristjánsdóttir, Harpa Björnsdóttir and Dagbjört Ylfa Geirsdóttir to sculpt birdseed into sophisticated objects like [candelabras, carafes, goblets and cutlery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pantlers-rations). Sunflower seeds are the primary ingredient in the Frægæti [bird feeders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/birdbuddy-pro), enticing the Crossbill population especially. Since this avian species forages incessantly over the winter period, the Birds Banquet is intended to be set when the snow begins to fall, serving up a feast that will fill little bellies through to the warmer months. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.9/10 - Popularity: 18% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/pets) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Decorative Bird Feeders:** Home decor and garden industries could benefit from producing decorative bird feeders to complement outdoor dining tables. - **Sophisticated Birdseed Sculptures:** Artistic industries can create sculptural birdseed designs for outdoor and indoor displays. - **Seasonal Bird Feeding:** Pet and wildlife industries can disrupt traditional bird seeds by creating seasonal bird feeds to attract different species. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies could expand into the bird feeder industry by creating decorative bird feeders to complement outdoor dining tables and backyard decor. - **Art:** Artists can explore the concept of sculptural birdseed designs to appeal to homeowners and nature enthusiasts. - **Pet and Wildlife:** Companies that produce pet and wildlife products can create more diversified bird feed options that rotate seasonally to attract different species. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Targeted Bird Seed Blends](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cool-birds.md) - [Sustainable Bird House Feeders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-bird.md) - [Bird-Shaped Food Packagings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bigbilled-bird-food-concept.md) - [Highly Functional Bird Feeders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ori-bird.md) - [Modernism Birdhouse Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dwellings-project.md) - [App-Extended Smart Birdfeeders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-birdfeeder.md) - [Educational Linoleum Birdhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elvi-birdhouse.md) - [Bird-Inspired Speaker Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/birdinspired-speaker.md) - [Interactive Observation Wooden Birdhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/domik-ptashki.md)
