# Surrealist Avian Artwork The 'Bird Rib' Series by Maurizio Bongiovanni is Supernatural By Amelia Roblin | Published 2010-09-15 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bird-rib-series References: [cakeheadlovesevil.wordpress](http://cakeheadlovesevil.wordpress.com/2010/09/14/bongiovanni-birds/) & [flickr](http://www.flickr.com/photos/mauriziobongiovanni/) What might have begun as impeccably realistic oil paintings, each individual image in the 'Bird Rib' series has fallen victim to some rather gripping distortions. The amount of detail and color within Bongionvanni's work suggests an intimate understanding of the different bird species exhibited in his 'Bird Rib' series, and yet it is clear that for his creative purposes he has pulled at their feathered forms to enforce geometric mutations. A dramatic environmental statement or an idiosyncratic artistic discourse, these paintings are a sight for sore eyes. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 17% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Bizarre](https://www.trendhunter.com/bizarre) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Surrealist Art:** Explore the trend of surrealism in art to create thought-provoking and visually intriguing pieces. - **Geometric Distortions:** Discover the potential of using geometric distortions in artwork to create unique and captivating images. - **Environmental Commentary:** Tap into the trend of using art to make a statement about the environment and spark conversations. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Fine Art:** Artists can leverage surrealism and geometric distortions to push the boundaries of traditional fine art and attract a new audience. - **Art Education:** Educational institutions and programs can incorporate the study of surrealism and geometric distortions to inspire creativity and critical thinking in students. - **Art Galleries:** Art galleries can curate exhibitions featuring surrealistic and environmentally themed artwork, offering visitors a thought-provoking and visually stimulating experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Almost-Extinct Animal Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fauna-series.md) - [Surreal Love-Themed Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joakim-ojanen.md) - [Modernism Birdhouse Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dwellings-project.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [Striking Urban Wildlife Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clare-allin.md) - [Vibrant Bird-Inspired Artful Puzzles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/macar-parrot.md) - [Bird Feather-Inspired Boots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kiss-boots.md) - [Stunning Origami Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-portaits.md) - [Bird-Inspired Ethereal Cosmetic Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/majestic-feathers.md)
