# Perched Fowl Fixtures The 'Bird on a Wire' Light Whimsically Mimics a Telephone Line Roost By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-01-21 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bird-on-a-wire-light References: [designspotter](http://www.designspotter.com/product/2012/01/Bird-on-a-Wire.html) & [giopatocoombes](http://www.giopatocoombes.com/immagini_prodotto.php?lang=en&prod_id=9) The beautifully erratic pattern of sparrows sitting along an electricity line has been reproduced on a small domestic scale as the 'Bird on a Wire' light. Giopato & Coombes of Italy have brought life into the often serious appearance of [linear lighting fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/superwire), decorating it with enchanting figurines of feathered creatures in roost. Each of the [small winged sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dwellings-project) has been recovered from old ceramic bowls of Bassano del Grappa. They were attached in casual positions to the bare metal bar of the [pendant lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nova-pendant-light) and, with it, painted a lovely glossy white. The effect produced is a bright inverted silhouette of adorable airborne animals perched delicately across a narrow beam or cord casing. The 'Bird on a Wire' light delightfully "freezes a moment of intersection between nature and man-made." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 60% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Linear Lighting Fixtures:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new ways to incorporate artistic elements into linear lighting fixtures to create unique and whimsical designs. - **Reclaimed Materials:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Utilize reclaimed materials, such as old ceramic bowls, to add a unique and eco-friendly element to design projects. - **Nature-inspired Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combine elements of nature with man-made designs to create visually captivating and enchanting products. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Redesign home decor products, such as pendant lamps, to incorporate artistic and nature-inspired elements for a more unique and captivating aesthetic. - **Lighting Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Innovate in the lighting design industry by creating unconventional and visually striking light fixtures that go beyond traditional linear designs. - **Sustainable Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Embrace sustainable practices by using reclaimed materials in design projects, creating eco-friendly and visually compelling products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Elegant Avian-Inspired Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flamingo-mini-light.md) - [Hat-Like Fabric Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flying-lamp.md) - [Whimsical Bird-Like Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiki-lamp.md) - [Sun-Lit Kite-Inspired Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cygnet-light.md) - [Bird-Inspired Speaker Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/birdinspired-speaker.md) - [Metal Thread Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nest-lamp.md) - [Gridded Nest-Like Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skynest.md) - [Delicate Illusory Ceiling Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aria-light.md) - [Tree Branch-Formed Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/celestial-attraction.md)
