# Leafy Lattice Illuminators The Bionic Floor Lamp is an Elaborate Abstraction of Natural Forms By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-01-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bionic-floor-lamp References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2015/01/07/abstract-anatomy-inspired-lighting/) & [behance.net](https://www.behance.net/gallery/16340793/Bionic-Floor-Light) Given that a lamp can be simply described as a light-emitting object, the designer of the Bionic Floor Lamp saw the opportunity to exercise a great deal of creativity in her piece. Inspired by springtime with the burgeoning of new buds and foliage, Ol'ha Shevchenko developed an [elegant abstract sculpture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-table-lamp) to beautifully represent such natural forms. The overall shape of the freestanding fixture takes a gentle S-curve, similar to that of a curling leaf. A skeletal structure is composed of [petal-like cutouts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blossom-chandelier) that allow the light source inside to shine outwards. During the day, the Bionic Floor Lamp appears as a soft and elegant sculpture; meanwhile, after dark, the artistic illuminator really reveals the intricate pattern of its [organic perforations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lamp). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.4/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 74% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Abstract Sculptures:** Opportunity for incorporating artistic and creative designs into functional objects like lamps. - **Organic Perforations:** Potential for creating lighting fixtures that showcase intricate patterns inspired by natural forms. - **Bionic Design:** Innovation opportunity for developing lamps that mimic and reinterpret biological structures. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** Application of abstract sculptures and organic perforations in creating unique lighting fixtures for interior spaces. - **Art and Home Decor:** Opportunity to merge art and functionality by offering bionic-inspired lamps as decorative pieces for homes and spaces. - **Lighting Design:** Development of lighting fixtures that utilize bionic design elements to create visually stunning and functional products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Organic Light Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lapso.md) - [Bamboo Forest-Inspired Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightbone.md) - [Sculptural Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Blooming Light Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloome.md) - [Nature-Inspired Living Space Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moonlight-floor-lamp.md) - [Scenic Architecture Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/architecture-inspired-table-lamp.md) - [Cutesy Coiled Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-helix-lamp.md) - [Zen Workstation Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bonsai-desk-lamp.md)
