[Japan](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/National-AI-ecosystems) Display created a thin biometric sensor that was designed to be used for [secure authentication](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iris-id). The biometric sensor is able to authenticate individuals using fingerprints, as well as veins and pulse waves. The sensor is able to operate using high-speed readout, as well as high-resolution imaging capabilities, all while being only 15 micrometers thin.

In order to create the sensor, Japan Display worked collaboratively with the [University of Tokyo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onebuttonpin) on research and development for the unit.

Japan Display states that the sensor could be used for high-level security, as it is able to completely ensure that authentication is accurate. The company has not announced a released date or price point for the unit.
