California-based Kennerly Architecture & Planning group created the new Bill Sorro Community, an [affordable housing option](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/affordable-housing-prototype) in San Francisco. Named after Bill Sorro, a social and economic justice activist, this new building was created in the heart of the Sixth Street Lodging House District.

The building used to hold the [Hugo Hotel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gomo-armchair), which closed because of a fire in 1988 -- it now holds eight studio apartments, 23 one-bedroom, 25 two-bedroom and 10 three-bedroom units. All apartments are for individuals and families that earn between 40% and 50% below the area of median income.

With a community room, common garden and other common spaces, the new Bill Sorro Community was created with modern and high-end design features.
