# Giant Bunny Sculptures Florentijn Hofman's Big Yellow Rabbit Looks Like a Huge Plush Toy By Meghan Young | Published 2011-08-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-yellow-rabbit References: [trendsnow.net](http://www.trendsnow.net/2011/08/big-yellow-rabbit.html) & [florentijnhofman.nl](http://www.florentijnhofman.nl/dev/project.php?id=181) The Big Yellow Rabbit seems to be the [discarded plush toy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jazwares-1) of one giant child. Although it looks all floppy and cuddly, this adorable [art installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-sculptures) is actually made out of wood, making the sculpture far from physically comforting. Instead, it's the super-sized rabbit's look that will bring a smile to people's faces. Conceived and created by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, the Big Yellow Rabbit was built for the biennial OpenArt show in Sweden. A [temporary structure](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flower-market-20), it is features concrete, metal and takspån materials, all of which are native to Sweden soil. Thrown against the statue of Engelbrekt, the Big Yellow Rabbit seems to have popped up out of nowhere; however, since it cost nearly $20,000 to produce, that really isn't the case. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 94% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Giant Sculptures:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Exploring new materials and larger-than-life designs for art installations. - **Temporary Structures:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating innovative and cost-effective temporary structures for art and cultural events. - **Playful Art Installations:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporating whimsical and interactive elements into public art installations. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Leveraging new materials and technology to push the boundaries of traditional art forms. - **Event Management:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing innovative solutions for temporary structures and outdoor installations in event planning. - **Architecture and Construction:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Utilizing unconventional materials and designs to create unique, eye-catching architectural structures. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Soup-Themed Bunny Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kidrobot-2.md) - [Iconic Bag-Inspired Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-birk.md) - [Folk Creature Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fibredog.md) - [Fairytale-Inspired Bed Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/circu-mr-bunny-bed.md) - [Colorfully Inflatable Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blowup-art-the-hague.md) - [Historic Contemporary Sculptural Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kawsholiday.md) - [Art-Inspired Plush Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buildabear-x-van-gogh-museum-sunflowers-bear.md) - [Explorative Artwork Playground Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cuddly-playground.md) - [Bow Tie-Wearing Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bow-tiewearing-sculpture.md)
