[Cadbury](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cadbury-and-the-princes-trust) is expanding their Bicycle Factory program to include a simple, but incredibly useful tool. The existing program is a microsite that encourages Cadbury customers to input UPC codes, each one representing a bike part. Once assembled, real bikes will be sent to Africa. 30,000 two wheelers later, Cadbury is looking to help communities in rural Ghana by creating a cheap and durable bicycle generator that can be used as a light. This way students who do not have electricity at home can do their homework, improve the education they are receiving and continue to break the cycle of poverty. The generators are being tested this summer and are also capable of charging cell phones. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 18% | Activity: 59% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z - Top markets: Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Youth](https://www.trendhunter.com/youth) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Bicycle Generators:** Expanding the use of bicycle generators to provide electricity and lighting in resource-constrained areas. - **Rural Education:** Utilizing innovative solutions like bicycle generators to improve access to education in rural communities. - **Sustainable Technology:** Developing durable and affordable technologies like bicycle generators to address energy and education needs in underserved regions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Renewable Energy:** The renewable energy industry can explore the potential of bicycle generators as a viable and sustainable solution for electricity generation. - **Education Technology:** The education technology industry can leverage bicycle generator systems to enhance access to education in remote areas with limited or no electricity. - **Social Impact:** Organizations focused on social impact and poverty alleviation can partner with bicycle generator initiatives to improve educational opportunities and overall well-being in underserved communities. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sleek Electricity-Storing Velomobiles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electricity-storing-velomobile.md) - [Regenerative Cycling Equipment](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/energy-keeper.md) - [Crank-Powered Bike Light Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wnd-helmet.md) - [Nighttime Limited Electric Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nocturne-bike.md) - [Productivity-Supporting Exercise Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acer-ekinekt-bd-3.md) - [Power-Generating Desk Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lifespan-ampera.md) - [Solar-Powered eBike Chargers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beambike.md) - [E-Bike Charging Partnerships](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bikeflex.md) - [Eco-Friendly E-Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yadea-cocoa.md)
