# Remixed Gourmet Nut Butter Better Off Butter Spreads Make You Look at Peanut Butter Differently By Amy Amaya Kisaka | Published 2013-09-03 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/better-off-spread References: [coolmaterial](http://coolmaterial.com/home/better-off-spread-peanut-butter) & [foodiggity](http://www.foodiggity.com/better-off-spread-a-peanut-butter-that-rocks/) Better Off Spread is the latest name in [kicky-flavored peanut butter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sage-onion-stuffing-peanut-butter). Far from just your standard peanut butter, Better Off Spread introduces a whole line of spreads spiced with unique flavor. They are made with different nuts – one includes almonds – and organic ingredients which, depending on the flavors, can twist cookies or PB&J sandwiches to confectionery dessert proportions. When spread on toast or crackers, these spreads offer a delicious substitute for that 3 AM spicy food craving you can’t satisfy. The available flavors range from Jalepeno Be Thy Name (a buttery blend of [jalepeno and honey crystals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chili-crisp-butter)) to Justice for Almonds (almond butter, dark chocolate, coconut and sea salt), to The Ace of Spice (Asian-influenced peppers) and Coldapocalypse (white chocolate, pineapple, and coconut). The Better Off Spread brand is the brainchild of Jenny and John, a quirky couple from Brooklyn who make the spreads by hand themselves. Offered on their website is a list of typical peanut butter recipes completely redefined by the use of their product. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 16% | Activity: 37% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Food](https://www.trendhunter.com/food) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Gourmet Nut Butter Craze:** Developing a diverse line of flavored nut butters made with unique ingredients and organic flavorings has the potential to fulfill the growing demand for healthier and tastier spreads. - **DIY Spread Industry:** Creating a DIY business set around providing healthy, organic ingredients for people to make their own flavored spreads and nut butters. - **Organic and Natural Food Industry:** Expanding the use of organic and natural ingredients and introducing unique flavors in nut butter products can increase innovation and disrupt the organic food industry ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Health Food Industry:** The growing demand for healthier food options means that this industry should capitalize on developing gourmet nut butters with unique flavors and organic ingredients - **DIY Industry:** Creating an industry set on providing people with the ingredients to make healthy, organic, and unique spreads and nut butters by themselves has the potential to disrupt the DIY industry - **Organic and Natural Food Industry:** Expanding the use of organic and natural ingredients in unique nut butter products can increase innovation and disrupt the organic food industry ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Fiery Peanut Butters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flavourmingle-spicy-peanut-butter.md) - [Uniquely Flavored Nut Butters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flavored-nut-butters.md) - [Coconut-Based Spreads](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coconut-based-spread.md) - [Elevated Almond Butters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/revival-almond-butter-spreads.md) - [Better-For-You Peanut Butter Cups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peanut-butter-better-cups.md) - [Protein Peanut Butters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/protein-peanut-butter.md) - [Savory-Sweet Almond Butters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unconventionally-flavored-almond-butter.md) - [Six-Ingredient Seed Butters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mixed-up-seed-butter.md) - [Richly Flavored Peanut Butters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dark-roast-peanut-butter.md)
